Good for you Dan, hope that the break is productive. Look forward to seeing what's coming.

Edited to add: a post on another forum indicates that it's not Dan's doing. I hope he gets it worked out with his partners.

My understanding is that Eric is back, has taken exception to some changes that Dan made and shut the whole site down.

Hi jbb!!

I hope things can be resolve amicably.  This answers some of the questions in my mind while was in LA.

A rather rotten way to treat their community, no matter what the issues involved between whoever it is that runs the site (Dan, Eric, others?). How will we find out what Mystery Ink #4 is? Just all around more drama than is appreciated, rather thought I'd left that crap behind when I left FPN.

Throwing the toys out of the pram is rarely the best answer.

Please send email address, we're starting a Google group.

I've been in contact with Dan, he is attempting to resolve things. Let's give a bit of time, as rebuilding an entire forum will not be easy, so we can hope it will sort out. Always good to have people stay in touch though. Please post any notice about a Google group, and I've been updating a thread at FPN as well. Because there are people there, too.

Thanks to David for not shutting down discussions like this.

Jon;

Everything flies here.  I don't think anything has ever been shut down.

A Refuges from Other Fountain Pen Boards sub forum might make sense here. I feel like I've been in this camp before.

Oh, I know that, Roger. I just wanted to be very public in my appreciation for this space and the provider, in the case that others who might wander in did not know the "safe haven", open nature of this forum.

There are several active Google+ Fountain Pen groups. Not sure how many more are needed.

While we wait, write with your pens.

I'd be interested to know how to contact them?

My view of Geeks is that it is "the FPN that is run by sane people". Dan has been supportive of our own FPB/Fpnuts push to spread the word about old pens, though of course FPB is not limited to that; it is just the core mission, a Raison d'ĂȘtre,  though not our only goal.

In fact, it is quite likely that I offer more fresh threads than anyone else about old American fountain  pens over at Geeks.

I hope they sort themselves.

And, yes, essentially nothing goes bye-bye here, even gripes about this very board, though you might get a pointed answer in some cases ;)

The only material deleted was a posted by a not-so-sharp fellow with psych issues, whose approach to disagreement was to hurl misogynistic terms for body parts at folks with whom he disagreed. Not good, that.

Discussion here about other Boards is welcome.

Calling Ye Olde Admin here a dumb-fuck probably won't get you tossed,  although he might feel sad for a few seconds.

One line in the sand perhaps is using FPB just to shill for a personal board/blog. Feel free to discuss your blog posts here, but be willing to offer the material in-line for discussion.  If you object to quotes being offered here, that would not be fair, save perhaps for active contributors who offer occasional links only.  We had one fellow who offered only links to a blog and complained when the blog was quoted after his post. We had to discourage that.

The very fact that so many people express trepidation about discussing or supporting here another board like FPG, shows that you guys  have been programmed by the monsters at another Big Board ;)

I believe we've done a pretty fine job here minimizing censorship.

regards

david

For those seeking casual pen chat, I do offer link to the Facebook Group I host, named Fountain Pens with Group Address FPnuts.

I invited 150 Facebook acquaintances to join last May. We are over 2100 members now. Every day sees fresh eye candy.

David, please let me know if this isn't OK.

I have a website, which apparently can support forums. Who knew! It's simple, but if folks looking for FPGeeks talk want to try [Site back, so temp forum removed] for now it might give us a spot to play!
