I am in the process of refurbishing an Onoto 5601 plunger filler.  While there is a good deal of information on disassembling the plunger mechanism, I haven't been able to find any on removing the nib and feed.  It's one of the models with the long section and the feed shaped to fit the cone on the rod.

Normally I would leave well alone, but I have a nice Onoto nib that I want to fit as a replacement for the slightly buckled 3/ST.

Any guidance?

Thanks

John

All finished, a very straightforward refurbishment.  Thanks to Roger from Custom Pen Parts for the precision-made seals and also to the friendly person who helped out with the nib question!

Thank you Stef. Watching your video of the exact same pen was part of my research before attempting this, my first Onoto plunger repair.

Recently I bought an Onoto 5601 in green marble. I rebuilt it and was shocked to find it wouldn't work. Now my Onoto rebuilds always work, so I took a very close look. I found cracks along the marbling - ugh! So I sealed these but it still didn't work. Then I noticed that the barrel was actually distorted; it will NEVER work!

As it happened I had a 3050 in very nice order but lacking nib and cap. The 3050's section is identical to the 5601s, so I have what might just be the first Onoto Frankenpen to grace these pages!
