I had a customer who was e-mailing me about inks; particularly orange inks.  I thought it would be a nice thing to send by mail a couple of samples from various brands to try.

Then this happened:

The customer was grateful for the package despite it breaking during transit.  Well, I felt a little down about it and wanted to make it right somehow.  Sure, sending free ink samples is nice, but no one wants cracked lids and spilled ink.

So, I sent him two Lamy Safaris with converters; one red with a 1.1 italic, and one black with a medium nib.

A few days ago, I got this e-mail:

Hi John,

I just got home and found your package on my desk. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was thinking I wanted to get that 1.1 Lamy Safari at some point. Don't have to anymore! You guys will be among the first ones to get my CD when I am done with it. I'm mixing 4 songs next Monday, and it'll be all done!!!!

I am sending a package out to you guys. I still have to write a letter to Susan.  ;-)

Take care John,

Daveed
