Hi guys,

I remembered David's article on the Slender Maxima after seeing this pen. This is advertised as a Major but seems to have the correct features for a Slender Maxima. Striped section and feather clip for the old Vacs plus the Senior Maxima-style cap-band. I'd say that it has the usual Senior Maxima nib as well but this one sports the ten feathers that are said to be features of the replacements for that on the Duofolds. Would appreciate some insight about this. Thank you!

I think you've nailed it as a Slender Max.

I don't recall any Parker docs that definitively indicate that 10 feather nibs were exclusive to Duofolds.

Hi John,

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, as far as I've read, people have also said that the ten feathers may also have been original to Vacs.

Hi David,

I had to think twice about that too. The proportions seem a bit off to me when I'm looking at the pictures. Looking at the pen with the clip facing the screen, the cap and barrel do seem quite "slender". The Senior Maxima photos I've seen have a more definitive chunkiness from the middle of the barrel which noticeably thins out towards both the section and blind cap. This pen seems like its shaped pretty straight. But, the top cap jewel looks to be pretty wide in proportion to the bottom jewel (like a Senior Maxima) which is why I had second thoughts after my first few glances.

Can we draw conclusions at this point or is there a significant risk of some distortion in the angles that the photos were taken?

Raph C.
