Back in the middle of March, someone posted a really nice pen set on eBay for sale.

It had perfect chrome and great transparency, but the seller said the blind cap looked like it was a Major size sanded down to fit the pen.
I wanted it anyway. My bid, however, was just not enough. It closed at $123 including shipping.
Woe is me.

But almost exactly one month later, the same set re-appeared from a different seller, but with crappier pictures.

By this time, the pencil nose cone and box had disappeared, but I was confident that it was the same set. The new seller said the same thing about the blind cap.
Well, I bid on it again, and won at $60 shipped. That's half what the first guy paid, and all it seems he bothered to keep was the pencil nose cone and the box!
I can live with this. The set arrived today, and the trim really is almost pristine. Definitely the best I've ever seen. The only flaw I can find is a teensy ding to the pencil's band. I can share new pictures if you guys are interested, but I think the first seller's picture is pretty good.

That's a bargain, even with the work involved. The smooth band Debs are hard to find, chrome trim clean is hard-ish to find, the combination is rather more hard to find.

That's really nice,  Brian.  I can't help but wonder what the guy you bought it from was thinking.  Looks like he got a nose cone and box for $63+shipping costs.  I suspect you can find the nose cone with a bit of looking, and I wouldn't care a fig about the box.  Although, I admit, I probably hate cases more than most people, simply because they take up so much room. Congrats!  That's a great get!

I was thinking the same, Allan. I don't know what the guy really got out of the deal. Actually it was the nose cone and half the mechanism that went missing. But I had a spare mechanism and a NOS nose cone in my parts bin, so those have already been replaced. Now I just have to find a really nice Deb blind cap.
