HI All!

Well, I scored a few weeks ago! As they say, when one door closes, another one opens!

I have been working with this antique dealer for quite some time, actually a few years, and finally I was able to purchase his collection of pens at a very fair price. This antique dealer really appreciated my honesty, integrity as well as immediate payment for the collection. I was going to surprise and share with a friend of mine, but alas, I cannot do this now.

It seems this antique dealer collected these pens as he bought them over a 37 year period from what I remember him saying, with no real specific brand/style. That made for a great collection of different things to have. I must have over 30 combo pens, mostly the lower end stuff, but the plastic colors are quite wild.

Most of the collection are pens that need restoration, pens I could use for my website, but out of the collection are some really nice collectable pieces.

Just a small sample of trays of the better stuff, enjoy, and yes, that smooth Conklin is 14k gold. The 51's have gold trim, double jewel of course, and a few of those Sheaffer's are gold band/clip versions, including a solid gold cap.

That Combo pen that is a tiger stripe pattern, wow, talk about fat! I don't know much about the red Conklin, but it is big, and the twist filler is restored/holds ink. Check out that Eagle Set with the cross hatch pattern, really neat plastic.  All the larger Oversized Sheaffer's Balance pens have perfect caps, no cracks on the cap lips.

As I said, this is just a sample, enjoy!

Thank you! Yes, the plaid pen set is super neat! Should command a fair price at a pen show.

Amazing pens, Greg!  I think you found the Mother Lode - or at least pretty close to it. Congrats!

Thanks Allan! Yeah, the mother load for sure! As I said, I was going to surprise a pen friend of mine, as I was working on this deal for quite a long time, but alas, things change. There was even a steel cap Skyline Set in the bunch; I was going to give it to my friend as a gift for all the help he has given me.  See photos;

Very nice score, Greg.

If the set is clean, I'd be interested in the steel-cap Skyline. I always can use good OS Balances for my website.

Thanks for sharing images with Fountain Pen Board.

regards

Dear David,

Thanks for your interest in the steel Skyline set. I was going to give it as a gift to a good friend, but now that situation has changed, so I sold it already to someone else. Sorry!

Yeah, quite a score, and there is more too!

Glad I can share, and for sure, everything is for sale!

Hi Greg,

If the red Nozac needs a home, let me know.

Marc

Please join the Mabie Todd Swan project where I am trying to sort out the undocumented mess that is American Mabie Todd's from the 1930's. The last pens that MT seemed to advertise were the "Eternal" pens, and then the company put out a wide range of different styles, shapes, sizes and filling systems before eventually closing up shop. I invite you to post your pictures of your American pens

Okay, the first one that does not have a clip is a Waterman's hard rubber swirl slip cap eyedropper #12 and the nib has a "STAR" on it.

The second one is also a Waterman's hard rubber swirl #12 eyedropper slip cap but the nib says "Premier 14K" on it. Not sure if that is original or correct.

See photos below!

Sincerely,

Thank you! Yes, that gold plaid pen is really neat! This antique dealer liked my non aggressive approach to dealing with him. Many folks just "wave" money in front of the seller, but I did not do this, rather, I built the relationship.
