Hello,

While searching through the web I found the publication titled "Trademarks of the jewelery and kindred trades", published in 1922. Here is few pages on fountain pens that I (at least) found very, very interesting. What caught my eyes is a sign used by Salz Bros and which looked like Penkala pens trade mark ... also there is a small mistake according John Holland brands: FountOgraph instead Fountagraph.

Enjoy! :)

Yes this is an interesting piece -- it's one of 718 reference documents maintained at the Pen Collectors of America's online library.

I didn't find it through PCA Library, through on-line archive hathitrust.org :)

I saw that - thanks for pointing that out!   Since the trademarks are not specific to any particular brand name, it is found in the "Other" section at the end.

Sorry, Jon, I'm a little confused. How can a trademark not be connected to a brand?

Also, I'm not sure what "end" you're referring to - at the end of PCA's library? Or generally at the end of such libraries? I don't mean to be difficult; I just don't understand.

No worries.  Once you enter the PCA's library, there are various categories - Big Four first, then the names are grouped alphabetically.  Since the trademark section of the book includes a whole variety of different makers, it's in that last batch marked "Other - Including Online Library Update Summary."

Note that the same 700+ public domain documents will be made available essentially free (cost of the disk and shipping) by me, very shortly.

I was inspired to do this by Jon Veley.  A legacy of sorts.

I'd be interested in a copy of that disc. Will you ship internationally?

Hi Paolino. Yes, but international shipping alone bumps the cost a bit.

I've had the files ready for months. Just need to get the copies done.

The PCA decided last November to move these documents into the publicly available area of the website - I'm not on the website team, but I'll ask about that.

Good to see I'm still forcing the PCA to do the right  thing, Mr. Veley's documented bleats on the subject aside.  "Decided" is such a cute word.  My format of course allows quicker access.  Perhaps the PCA can offer DVD's at cost. Then I won't have to.

See some history at this link. several pages. It started soooo casually....

I have a 4 page Chilton pamphlet that I don't think was ever seen by anyone before, that I need to scan and make available.

I just got it recently.

It was in the original 1937 Chilton catalog I got recently.

Think I have a copy of the catalog, but not the pamphlet.

Isn't it strange that in 1922 "Lucky Curve" was marked as "discontinued"?
