I have an eclectic ink bottle collection. Some vintage. Most is modern variety and used in my rotation on a limited basis. This, found in Effingham, Illinois today, piqued my interest.
A nice looking specimen in great shape, including the box. An appealing 8-sided bottle with plastic lid in great condition.
At the bottom of the box, it is printed "makers of ink for 78 years", which puts it at about 1936 if we use 1858 as the start of Sanford's ink production.
The ink has a pungent smell, assuming it is original. There is about 3/4" of ink left in the bottle. Obviously safely kept all these years. A nice addition to the vintage.
I now have two ink displays to store my bottles. That photo for another day.
