Just came across this early Doric on E-bay appears to be of a similar swirl pearl plastic like Cathay but in a wierd colour. Also the cap appears different in pattern to the barrel.  It could be the colour cast of the photos but not sure. If it is the actual colour, its defintely odd. Any thoughts?

Hi Glenn.

I do believe that is a somewhat subdued Cathay.  Cap with slightly different cut to the plastic?  Dunno. I believe it is at least not a Kashmir cap on Cathay barrel.

Nope, this isn't Cathay. It's evenly discoloured (yellowed) Burma Pearl (smoke grey/black-silver pearl) Doric.
