Not sure if Aerometric sit under British or Parker, so Parker it is...

I recently won by auction a Parker 51 Aerometric Forest Green but on receipt it turned out to be a Blue in colour with the barrel imprint of MADE IN ENGLAND  0, so take that to be dated 1950.   Having only seen photos of a Midnight Blue, my pen looks quite a bit lighter in colour to what I imagined a Midnight Blue would look like.

So my question is - Did Parker produce an additional/later 'Blue' variant to the Midnight Blue?    The photo below is the Blue pen against a Teal Blue 51.

Thanks

Innes

Teal tends to have a lot of color variation.  I have one Aerometric that looks almost like Cedar Blue but I assume is Teal.  Midnight Blue is rather dark and easily distinguishable from Teal.  I imagine yours is a slight variation of Teal.

Color control was not as accurate back then.  One batch might not be an exact match with another one. Time, environment and exposure can change a color from it's original hue too.  With Vacumatic 51's, it is often difficult to fine a replacement blind cap to match the barrel, even though the two are supposed to be the same color.

The fact that this pen is not Midnight Blue and nor did Parker introduce a planned additional Blue variant, then if it is a batch variation for Teal Blue, then I suggest the mixer has omitted to add the Teal additive into the formulation, thus achieving the Blue colour.

Thanks for your input.

If you are implying one or both of the pens in the OP are Nassau you would be incorrect.
