fixing a loose lever

I have a loose lever on a no-name, vintage, gold-filled pen body. I am using a make-shift pressure bar in it. Are there any things to try? When I write with the pen the lever is just dangling there. :(

sounds like an ill-fitting J bar, probably consistent with your description "make shift". I would suggest replacing it for a new one, they are easy enough to come by
