How was your experience at the 2016 LA Pen Show? What did you learn and what do you think could make the show better?

I had a grand time buying bargain pens to restore and managed to find a donor barrel  (I need the lever from it) to restore a Sheaffer o/s flat-top. However somewhere in that vast room, I lost the nib assembly for the pen!  It was a week ago and I'm still totally gutted.  Anyone got any bright ideas please?

Re: your Sheaffer Flat-top

I would ask someone on the Sheaffer board if you want. Otherwise, there are several knowledgeable sellers and traders on this forum who would be glad to help you. Besides, many vintage dealers have parts that can work. You might also try Rob and Rita Lott at Five Star Pens to see if they have any parts. If not, Rob's brother, Richard might have them too. I also recommend Ron Meloche if you live on the West Coast. He restores Sheaffer's including Oversize pens. Or try Fred Krinke at The Fountain Pen Shop in Monrovia, CA. Any one of these folks you can look up on Google or Bing.

As for the LA Show, I think many of the things which occurred for us vendors will not happen again. (Hope not, for all of our sakes!)

A main reason the LA Show has been a success in past years was the large lineup of dealers and a main room to weave through and out to the aisles. It keeps the flow of traffic going well, and people can feel they've had a great experience at the show.

What do you think might improve the show next year?
