A nice birthday surprise arrived in the mail today, the current issue of Pen World Magazine and the first issue featuring one of my pen collecting articles. The title is "Hunting Flamingos". You're not a hack-amateur-newebie if you get the title wink.png

I've been scribbling fountain pen articles for magazines for about 15 years, and I've long been fond of Pen World; I still appreciate the 6 page collector profile they offered me in my early days collecting Parker Vacumatic (and other) fountain pens. I was overdue to offer articles to PW. It's been a pleasure to chat at pen shows for years with the people behind the magazine. I'm not sure I have enough time or material to do every issue, so might do every other, but should have material in the mag regularly  or the next year or two, which should keep me busy what with doing similar for Paul Erano's magazine.

My article will have a focus on collecting, teaching a principle or about s focused segment of the hobby. I hope to have a bit of slice-of-life narrative mixed in, offering elements of my own interest in the pen under discussion.

Do check out the current issue, or better yet subscribe to Pen World. I have no problem contributing material online to the collecting community, but there is something to be said for having to limit an article to 1000-1500 words for print, while keeping  very word that matters. Print articles offer something special, even in the age of unlimited online verbosity. Perhaps having written about hunting flamingos for this issue, I can do something on growing roses for the next issue. http://www.penworld.com
