A friend of mine that owns an Antique Store, had this come into his hands recently whilst in Victoria.
It is Brass in construction.

The inkwell dome lid is hinged and appears to be a zinc lining and meets the lid cleanly. I believe there was NOT a porcelain or glass insert, unless it sat below the lip, but then WHY the zinc lining?
The design on both the inkwell and pen stand has very old Dolphins on it. Helping with the age guess.
Any information greatly appreciated.
