Not just late Duofolds have date codes

The 1932 Parker catalog shows streamlined Black and Gold pens.  In the 1934 catalog, they have been replaced with the Parkette and Challenger.  Yet here is one with a 4th quarter 1934 date code on both the barrel and nib, found last week in the wilds of Minnesota.

Vacumatics can sometimes be found with late date codes, too.  Here's a US manufacture dated 1957.

My feeling is that this pen had to be assembled and sold as new in 1957 since it has the dated inscription.
