I think it's made out of wood but it might be hard rubber or some other kind of plastic..

Thanks.  So is this bottle 1924 or earlier? And was it cheaper than a glass bottle? Was it intended to be a portable ink supply? Was it a student ink container?

It seems it is later than 1924 although I always though it was earlier...

I found this, I believe it would help...

Thank you. Very interesting.  The more I handle it, the more I feel like it is hard rubber. I rubbed it and it did smell like sulphur. I paid $8.00 for it.

Three varieties to the Skrip script: white, gold, and 14K. Safety Skrip, meant to be a traveling ink bottle. You should peruse the Sheaffer catalogs in the PCA library.

I checked all the catalogs available at the PCA but did not find anything, but it is possible I looked into the earlier ones, I will verify the later ones...

I found a picture of the Safety ink bottle in a PCA 1934 catalog.  It shows it with a 5 piece Lifetime Feathertouch Enemble set but no explanation.

1930 is the earliest in the PCA's catalogs.  1928 shows the wooden traveler.

I do not know if you are referring to Scheaffer's, but from that brand there are six catalogs earlier that 1930 in the PCA Library.

Now that I know what it's called, I looked on ebay for Safety Skrip and found a 1929 magazine ad that has a lot of information.

Sorry. I meant 1930 was the earliest Sheaffer catalog in the PCA library that shows the hard rubber Saftey Skrip.
