None of my oft-present facetiousness with this one. I'm happy to offer peek at what really is an Earth-shattering (dare we say galaxy detonating? Perhaps not. I hate hyperbole) find in the world of vintage Sheaffer Balance collecting. From the George Beck (Sheaffer Exec VP during the 1940s 1950s) personal collection I recently purchased after it was found by a fellow pen hunter.  I'll put together a detailed story of the sequence of events that led  o the pen and to information about the pen, but that might have to wait four months (guess why). But, here is the paper and the pen. You saw it first at the facebook Fountain Pens Group. You do see what's neat?  It's enough to make this hack amateur newbie Sheaffer collector very happy. I'm happy. I'm David. *epiphany*... Happy David!

Hello,

David: If there is no chance for a sneak peek because of the article, please let us know, when the pen finds it's way to paper, ok? Is there a list of your publications somewhere, per chance? As in: Title, date, periodical's name?

By the way: Are you planning to make available the "older staff" one day? I think I get the idea of exclusive articles, for the given magazine reader only, but maybe, after, say, 2 or 3 years after original publication, making it available to a broader public? That would give you a chance for an update too, as I know the knowledge of things tends to grow with the passage of time. Please consider that. Personally I believe you write them out of passion and for the fun of it, the thrill of a successful investigation or great find completing a segment of collection ... Maybe also a lecturer in you gives you the urge :-) ... and probably even the original publication doesn't mean any payment for you. What I'm trying to say is: I read some of your articles, while I still had access to The Pennant and I believe it would be a waste if they were never made available together. At some point in the future. If you decide to do it.

Obviously I'm being selfish as a person not being a subscriber (also to FPJ) but I'm sure it would make sense in general. There aren't so many people really interested in knowing about the staff at such a detailed level, either, so maybe the readership outside the magazines you write for wouldn't be a problem in terms of a possibility of loosing subscribers.

Anyway: Skygirl - interesting staff. Just read the trademark Patent from April 1940 Jonathan showed on FB.

All the best,

Maciek

I would be interested reading more about this pen but it appears that this earth-shattering find went by without making a noise.

Or did relevant info disappear in the Facebook sewer?
