There have been some great articles in near past about finding the origin of the person etc that may be engraved on the side of a vintage pen.

I bought a lovely Sheaffer Loaner with Z-clip from approximately 1928 at the recent Phila Pen Show. The engraving says it was loaned by Elvove Department Store.  I have exhausted Google to learn that the highest concentration of folks with Elvove as their last name is from Kentucy and at around that time, there was a Sarah Elvove who was born in 1908 who was a contributor to the Kentucky Kernel newspaper at that time. That's as deep as I could get. No mention of a department store.

So I am wondering if there are any Kentucky pen collectors out there who might be able to help be get to the bottom of this!

Thanks

Alex Levin (Dedicated Sheaffer flat top collector)
