Interesting Eversharp Symphony

28 April 2016 - 08:56 PM

I received this package in the mail today after a long wait.  Not sure if anyone else saw it on eBay, but it peaked my interest as I've been building a collection of Symphonies as of late.

Looks like a normal Symphony from the outside

Once you start looking more though things get interesting!  Where's the lever! Is that a blind cap?????

A button filler???  Nope, unscrew the section to reveal!

An accordion sac!  It has a breather tube installed and everything.

Not only is that a awesome find, but the cap is also marked differently than most other Symphonies.  This is in fact the 2nd Symphony I have owned that had these markings.  The last (since sold sadly) was a Symphony 703.  Through some research from before we figured out it was most like a French model of some sort.

If the writing is blurry (hard to get a clear shot) it says Double GR Lamine.  The clip has a crest or hallmark of some sort.

Immediate critics might say it was a modified pen, but in looking at the craftsmanship and the way it all fits together I'm fairly comfortable saying this is either a one-off test model or prototype (I use that word lightly). The work someone would have to have put into creating this thing would have been pointless for just a fun modification.

As well they had to start with a Symphony barrel with no lever opening in it.  Eversharp did make other pens with this exact setup, so it wouldn't have been absolutely crazy to think someone there tested it out in this pen as well.

This is the second really scarce find for Symphonies I've had in a month.  The last (I'll have to get some better pictures) was a Solid Gold Eversharp Symphony.

I've posted this on a few other forums, but just so excited I'll add it to this one as well.

Looking to see if anyone has a spare Sterling Silver Cap they would be willing to part with.  Thanks!

WTB: Brown 1st Generation Eversharp Symphony

08 February 2016 - 09:19 PM

I'm looking to complete a 1st generation Eversharp Symphony collection.  Stupidly I sold a NOS Brown Symphony a few years back and back in the hunt for one now.  If you have one or a line on one I'd really appreciate any consideration!

Thanks!

Tom

Wonder if he'll get what he wants.  Looks fairly legitimate!
