Nice Parker 51 first year set

04 July 2014 - 05:07 PM

This set arrived yesterday.  I will try to get more pictures up this weekend, but I am too excited to not post.  Every thing looks right for a first year set.  The clip is right.  The filler is right. The imprint on the blind cap is super sharp and indicates first quarter of 1941.   The gold content on the caps is at the top, as it should be for a first year pen.  There is a little blue ink on the nib/feed, so it was at least dipped, but it all looks mint.  Even the box is quite clean and appears appropriate to the set.

I know it is hard to tell from the seller's photos, but everything about this pen looks right.

I couldn't be happier!

As I said, I will try to get pictures up this weekend, but had to share my excitement!

Education needed: Parker Vac Clip

10 August 2013 - 11:52 PM

https://plus.google....La5vZrzxOOs1gEI bought this pen on ebay without taking the time to understand what it is (or isn't). The clip is what both attracted me to it an now baffles me. The pen is a blue vac with a "4" date code. The gold band is the "decco" pattern with a (blank) cartouche on the band. Is the clip likely original to the pen? I am not able to find a referent online, but I suspect our resident Vacu-maniacs will educate me.
