An old topic and one about a modern pen maker, I know, but as Sandy pointed out - all these pens were modern at some point. 

 

FWIW: I picked up a F-C Model 66, which is essentially a desk pen with a cap.  No clip and ~6" in length uncapped.  I paired it with one of the new Penwell pen holders (if you haven't seen these, you should take a look; they are actually pretty nifty.  https://penwellco.com/ ) and now have a wonderful desk pen with one of Jim Rouse's SIG F steel nibs.  I have to say I'm impressed with the quality of the F-C 66; I assume their other pens are similar in quality.  The 66 is a C/C filler but there is no reason you couldn't use it as an eyedropper filler.  Mine is in Garnet and evokes the look of vintage celluloid.  

F-C is doing a lot of things right.
