#9709 DUOFOLD - FABBRICATO IN ITALIA -

Posted by fabbale on 26 October 2011 - 07:42 AM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

Hi Fabbale,

Nice photos and great pen!

I have never seen a Parker Duofold with Italian markings. I had no idea any were made there, though I suppose it is possible pens from elsewhere were so marked for reasons of politics or sales needs.

That is a very nice find.

regards

david

Thank David

#9661 DUOFOLD - FABBRICATO IN ITALIA -

Posted by fabbale on 25 October 2011 - 03:11 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

The enormous number of pens made by Omas also includes a series of hard rubber and celluloid pens marked
“Parker.”
Some degree of mystery is still attached to the real story behind these pens: it remains unclear if these Duofold Streamline was made under license to the US company or were clandestine imitations.

The measures are the same as SPECIAL STREAMLINE, but the clip is bigger, how the ball and the engraving seems more pronounced.

Duofold experts, how know about this DUOFOLD FABBRICATO IN ITAIA that D.Shepherd & D.Zazove not mentioned any news on their book ?

Your opinion and news on will be much appreciated

#7057 a new Italian find

Posted by fabbale on 01 July 2011 - 03:07 PM in OTHER EUROPEAN and ASIAN PENS

The pen is an Aurora. The Novum was one of the premier models for Aurora in the 1930's.

This is a beautiful pen. Looks like the pen has the twist lever mechanism.

The NOVUM models were famoud for your lever filler at the end of the barrel

#7053 The GERMAN Columbus brand...

Posted by fabbale on 01 July 2011 - 02:57 PM in OTHER EUROPEAN and ASIAN PENS

Thanks for the comments on my pen. A certain Italian man keepa many beauties like this pen in a spa in Tuscany, I was fortunate to have swept this one up to muggy Texas.

Don't worry, if you're the crazy Aussie / Ulsterman, you are welcome in my threads! ;)

#4171 And now for something completely different.....

Posted by fabbale on 20 January 2011 - 04:10 PM in BRITISH PENS

Also in Italy there was a company named CORONA.

These fountain pens were made from the second half of the thirties through the fifties by a Milan firm called Mario Diaz. The models from the thirties/early forties are beautiful colored celluloid lever-fillers and button-fillers fitted with a gold nib marked “Corona.” The engraving on the barrel consists of the word “Corona” written in 18th-century style inside two rings.

Nice, rare pen!
I will try to post pictures on my large gold filigree pen later...but silver is by far more rare, especially since it is in the oversize.

Thank Jiffy

How about this big Morrison's filigree?
Nib has not its original, but rather, a beautiful Griesabher.
Was produced also in gold filigree?

#3964 Waterman 52 jewellers overlay

Posted by fabbale on 02 January 2011 - 06:55 PM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

Not a jeweler's overlay -- that's the mark of Waterman's Italian agency. You can read a bit of background here, but note that that page is quite old and has been corrected and amplified in many regards since. See Letizia Iacopini's book on Italian overlay Waterman safety pens (she was the author of the website, too).

David Perfect, the info are right and the web page, even if it's old news, however, contains still valid.
The whole story is still shown in a most beautiful LETIZIA's book.

A "Masterpiece"

#3915 CONKLIN ENDURA NIB

Posted by fabbale on 28 December 2010 - 09:39 PM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

I believe the no.7 nib is correct, generally these are a more flexible nib than most Endura nibs ( some of the later ones are surprisingly flexible though, and uncommon) and where probably offered as the "flexible" alternative. As such those fitted with the no.7 are a lot less common, I've seen the no.7 fitted to post 1925 pens ( Roger W. has one) as well, this one being an earlier model as indicated by lack of date on the lever. Apart from the brassing this on looks to be in really good shape, nice pen.

Regards
Hugh

Thanks Hugh and all people.

#3910 CONKLIN ENDURA NIB

Posted by fabbale on 28 December 2010 - 04:55 PM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

Hello everyone
I'd like to know your opinion on this nib.
In contrast to the usually, not a nib marked ENDURA; it is possible that an adjustment or, and in some cases, this could be mounted on ?

I'm not an expert of 51 and I learn from you that the design of the cap is called fishscale. I thought that this term indicates the caps of 41 as this

#3845 THE KENBAR PEN AND LONDON

Posted by fabbale on 21 December 2010 - 05:13 PM in Post Your Pen Finds

"KENBAR" and Barkers Kensington, get it? The Barkers Building on Kennsinton High Street, London, is now a shopping center with, for example, a very high end Whole Foods Market. It was built in 1932 and used to house a department store. Here's a link w/ some photos of the carvings on the exterior.

You've got a neat store-branded pen. Wicked looking lever!

Thank for info Matt.

Yes the cap is certainly from a later model.
But the combination is not so bad.

Quote my friend Simone for the mix cap/body, but, GOOD SENSATIONS & GOOD VIBRATION for color.

Very, Very ok.
