#36878 Waterman 16 SF Sleeve Filler

Posted by catfish on 03 September 2014 - 02:59 AM in Post Your Pen Finds

Mark?

Obviously I'm having a technically challenging afternoon! Triple posting AND calling a very helpful and highly regarded member of this board by the wrong name was not a good thing to do. My apologies Allan.

Regards

Alf

Thanks for the reply Allan. Yes, the pressure bar is present...somewhat corroded but hopefully salvagable. Can you tell me if the section is threaded into the barrel?

Regards

#36804 Waterman 16 SF Sleeve Filler

Posted by catfish on 31 August 2014 - 01:24 AM in Post Your Pen Finds

As I was about to post this, I saw Procyon's post on his beautiful silver and gold sleeve fillers, purchased on  Ebay....well done!

My pen was found at a country flea market a few days ago. I'm trying to decide whether to restore the pen myself (I have some experience) and keep it, or sell to someone else and let them have it restored. I certainly don't want to risk damaging it. If I decide to proceed myself, I would appreciate any advice on how I should proceed.

Waterman ripples are always good to find.

is that a Weidlich with the arrow clip?

It's a Canadian Parker Challenger.

#36060 Summer road trips & small town antique stores

Posted by catfish on 24 July 2014 - 07:04 PM in Post Your Pen Finds

During the last month and a half, my wife and I have made some road trips. We've seen some great scenery, visited the kids and some friends and of course taken the opportunity to stop in a lot of small town antique stores, flea markets and yard sales. We've been making these trips each summer for quite a few years and have come to know some of the store owners. We always stop to browse and chat and they usually have a few pens most of which I probably saw and rejected on my last trip through. I always try to buy something and leave a fresh card along with a reminder to call me If they acquire something nice. I've taken some photos, of some the pens that a few of the dealers set aside for me, since the last trip.
