#44176 Some Recent Finds

Posted by Daniel A on 07 September 2018 - 02:51 AM in Post Your Pen Finds

David, It is indeed not something I plan to keep; however, due to condition and scarcity, I'm looking for pretty much full whack.

NB: It is dent and ding free; it is tastefully engraved R.R. Wright on the cartouche.

#44175 Flaming Screaming Souls

Posted by Daniel A on 07 September 2018 - 02:47 AM in SHEAFFER (USA "Big Five")

Pretty plastic. Shame not used by the big guys.

I agree. It would look terrific on a honking great OS pen.

This one is of Japanese manufacture, so I've no idea where the material may have come from.

#44172 Vacuum Filler...

Posted by Daniel A on 04 September 2018 - 05:42 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

I tried repeatedly to photograph the excellent clarity of the barrel; I failed repeatedly!

As Sam said, "Fail again, fail better!"

#44171 Flaming Screaming Souls

Posted by Daniel A on 04 September 2018 - 05:38 PM in SHEAFFER (USA "Big Five")

This isn't a Sheaffer product, but it reminds me of the material that is sometimes called Screaming Souls of Purgatory.

Of course, the red bits and the lighter add to the flaming and screaming!

#44170 Some Recent Finds

Posted by Daniel A on 04 September 2018 - 05:01 PM in Post Your Pen Finds

Here is some fresh stuff from the wild.

I'm not a Sheaffer collector, but when they turn up....

The hand engraved pen is dent and ding free; the big Clipper is like new!

The Dusty Rose Duofold has some plating wear, but the other two are rather clean.

The MRHR pencil/knife is awfully nice. Imprints read "Strad" pat applied for Rd No 767365

#44168 Vacuum Filler...

Posted by Daniel A on 16 August 2018 - 10:20 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

Folks, my apologies for the light-hearted approach to this five-dollar find.

I was indeed aware that it was a Ripley and that the blue was not a result of ink stains.

(In fact, it seems to have been last filled with black ink, rather than blue!).

#44163 Nice Little Sheaffer

Posted by Daniel A on 14 August 2018 - 07:20 PM in SHEAFFER (USA "Big Five")

Also found this one at the garage sale last weekend.

Nice condition with no plating loss, no brassing, no dents.

I don't collect Sheaffers, but I couldn't pass up this one!

#44162 Vacuum Filler...

Posted by Daniel A on 14 August 2018 - 07:13 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

Found this at a garage sale last weekend.

Marked Vacuum Filler.

It's missing a few of the endy bits, but it's in nice shape.

Any ideas as to how to get the blue (ink residue?) out of the cap...?

#44108 Help with Gucci Doctor's Pen

Posted by Daniel A on 20 November 2017 - 10:51 PM in OTHER EUROPEAN and ASIAN PENS

Hello All, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I recently picked up an awfully nice little Gucci sterling and gold cased ballpoint pen and thermometer.

The pen is marked Gucci, Made in Italy, Sterling 925 (and a hallmark I cannot quite make out).

The 925 and hallmark are on the case, too. The thermometer is marked Made in England.

The gold bits look like they might be solid gold and the hallmark looks like it "might" be 585, making it 14K, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone seen one of these? I searched and can find no records or references.

Thanks,

Daniel
