I second that motion! What a great party. You can really see the selfless dedication the S.F. Pen show organizers give to make everyone super happy. This show will continue to grow and is quickly heading in a very short amount of time to be the premier West Coast Pen Show! ]

#43509 Wahl All Metal Demonstrator #5

Posted by Greg Minuskin on 30 July 2016 - 12:36 AM in Post Your Pen Finds

Eversharp seems to have preferred that lens shape for their demonstrator cutouts.

gallery_151_19_172983.jpeg

That is a great example on a pencil! So the legends are true, the "lens" approach is what they did for a demonstrator pen, really neat!

I will be bringing my pen to the D.C. Show to share, and sell!

#43393 Mont Blanc #12 Body and Tail Repair, a Challenge!

Posted by Greg Minuskin on 13 June 2016 - 11:42 PM in R & R: (Repair and Restoration)

Hello all!

Well, this nib repair was a huge challenge, and it took some doing to "graft" in the missing pieces, plus repair the various fracturing cracks both in the body and towards the tail of this rare Mont Blanc #12 nib.

See the "Before and After" photos.

Really nice job Greg. It's a good save on a valuable nib that would be near-impossible to replace.

Thanks John! Yes, this is a valuable nib that needed saving.

#43251 Tricky Parker #12 Nib Repair

Posted by Greg Minuskin on 01 May 2016 - 09:07 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

That is an absolute incredible repair, unbelievable!

I really do not understand how you achieve that smooth surface on the repaired nib.

Even for a nibmeister this repair was a real tour de force I guess, congratulations!

Thanks Jos! It takes a bit of doing, especially with the correct curvature of the nib so that the repaired nib will fit the feed as original. Some little pock marks here and there, but I also did a bit of hand-engraving of the imprint to bring it back close to original.

Yes, a tour de force repair! Thank you!

Hi all!

Been a while, still recovering from the L.A. Pen Show!

Was going through my pen booty and I came across this interesting nib! Photoshop 14k, Butte Montana. Never seen it before but then again, I have not seen much in my young days...

Any help would be appreciated with regard to information, history, etc.

#42687 Platinum Parker 51 Like Demonstrators?

Posted by Greg Minuskin on 05 December 2015 - 03:01 AM in Post Your Pen Finds

I claim no expertise, but Platinum was making pens in the 1950s in Japan.  It would not shock me if Platinum took inspiration from Parker ;)

Thanks for your reply David. I was quite surprised to find these pens, not worth much, but still, interesting!

Will blow them out at a pen show!
