Per RIchard: Umm, I'm certainly willing to be proven wrong, but I've been under the impression that this pen

is a Streamliner. I believe it was Syd who so identified it for me, but again I could be misremembering my source. So, umm, got some primary source for "your" Streamliner?

David

Umm, guys, am I the only one to notice that the "intermediate" clip on Richard's pen bears a strong resemblance to the low tier pencils that Jonathan Veley calls the Skyline Press Clip I and II? Page 75 in his book or paragraphs 39-40 on the Eversharp page of his online pencil museum. Further, he notes that he has seen a few matching pens. Don't wanna start no fights, just wanna point it out....

Richard's pen appears to be a model for which we've yet to find a name. How come there's never a catalog around when you need one?

edit: now I see there's a parallel conversation going on over at Zoss, so I'm not alone in noticing this.

On the contrary.

This image and thread I cited as a reference in the Zoss chat. I do have interest to see other pens of this sort, so images are, of course, invited. :)

To add to my prior comments about Richard's pen, while I cannot insist, the contour of his pen's barrel seems less tapered than Skyline's, though he does not show the pen closed and noting I'm overdue to post a couple of my Skylines to compare.

The matching pen to the pencil I discussed in my blog was posted at Fountain Pen Network.

So, as per my note on Zoss, we are left with observation of a non-Skyline shaped pen.

Someone stuck a streamliner clip and derby on that modern stripe. It didn't come that way.

..... maybeeeeeee.....

Still, we have pens in this thread with shapes not consistent with Skyline that some claim to be Skylines so...

And, of course, I just posted a thread about what appears to be a Parker Duofold with Challenger endpieces stuck on it...

http://fountainpenbo...etofore-unseen/

And of course we've seen a bunch of "Eversharp" Skylines in this thread that appear to be "Wahl" Skylines due to funky clips found on them...

And so forth...

Keeps things... interesting.

It can be dangerous to assume...

Further up in this thread, David posted a page from a 1947 repair manual showing several models, in particular numbers 98 and 99 for the full and demi size, demi and full size, respectively, Streamliner.

No dimensions are given for this "199" Streamliner pencil currently on ebay, but I bet it's a demi fulll size. (Jonathan Veley later informed me his tagged full size Streamliner pencils have code 199 and the demi ones are 198, so the numbers on the repair page above are not in the same order as the pens! And his Streamliner pencils have a double check mark clip....)

Do smooth-cap Streamliners normally have the double check mark clip? The repair manual page notes that the ribbed-cap Streamliners do not carry a guarantee, but neither Streamliner pictured has the double check clip.

A GREAT amount of information on this thread, thanks to all for the insight and the references! The intricacies covered here are educational and much appreciated.

While I've found all the Skyline art deco design sharp, the Modern Stripes seem the most unique.

Just wanted to say thanks.

May be repeating the obvious, but for "WAHL" clipped Skylines, the clip should match the nib, i.e., both marked WAHL. All but one that I have seen in plain colors, sterling silver ribbed caps, and Modern stripe have WAHL on both the clip and on the nib. My guess is that the one with the Eversharp nib and the WAHL clip had a replacement nib, but that is only a guess.

Best,
Pat

Tried pointing this out to PatM, but he hasn't posted here in ages. How about a Wahl-clip Streamliner, or whatever the later pressclip model is called? Wahl nib, too.

2nd and last photos, next to the really, really (really) sad Pacemaker.

Just a bump because I think David's and Pat's Skylines, up top, are works of art. Plain beautiful...especially that blue.
