Mine's the latter, alas. Is there a substitute for the collar? There are two versions of the Fifth Avenue guts. The earlier version uses an ordinary Magic Feed and nib; they're the same size as the parts in a Skyline. Is this what you have? (The later version's nib and feed are much smaller than the usual size, and these need the hard rubber collar you've mentioned.)

If you need a Fifth Avenue Collar give me a shout. I have a few NOS ones that could be had. Or I could be had if you twist my arm - ouch!

I'll have to look at the ones I have. I had one of the earlier versions with no collar, and I'm almost positive the feed and nib looked nothing like that of a Skyline nib and feed. If I recall (and I'll have to doublecheck) the Skyline feed ribs are vertical, and the feed I pulled out of my Fifth Avenue had thin horizontal ribs. The feed and nib were definitely bigger than the second generation ones with a collar as well, so I know it wasn't one of those.

Don't remember where I got this schematic:
Matt, I hate to ask a favor, but is there any chance of a larger image? I've grown to find the Fifth Avenue oddly fascinating and would love to have a large enough scan to be able to clearly read the details (to tide me over until I find a copy of Cliff Lawrence's Wahl-Eversharp Repair Manual, from which I'll guess this image came).
