Hullo.

In the Pen Finds thread I posted a shot of three old Waterman's pens that I have just bought.  I have been told that the smallest pen is a Lady Patricia, there have been several opinions about the black one and the third with metal cap is so far unidentified.  Here's the picture again - sorry about the quality!

Perhaps you can help?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Bottom pen indeed is a Waterman Lady Patricia from around 1930. Color is Persian.  Neat color though one at particular risk for stress cracks and crazing.  Quality pen that cost $5 in 1930, not at all inexpensive then.

Middle pen maybe missing clip looks to be a Waterman #3 from early-mid 1930's

Top pen not sure. Looks "late and cheap".

Best regards

David

Thanks again David.

Regarding the 3, I have been trying to understand some (!) of Waterman's model numbering.  I know it's a minefield and confusing because the pens were made in four countries.  So I'm not asking for the full thing you understand!

Regarding the dating of the 3, how would this relate to a Canadian 32 (coffin-shaped clip - four prongs)?  I thought I read that the 3 was preceded by the 32 but this surely cannot be correct?

Thanks in advance.

I spent some time yesterday researching - and it looks to me as though the cheapie at the top is a 1950s Skywriter.

Thanks.

I think you're right.  Perfectly useable pen but of very low value.
