it's been a while since i've picked up any vac, but i couldn't pass up this very nice set in silver-pearl on ebay:

no dimensions were given in the ad and there was no time to ask or wait for answer, so i took a chance and got the set for a little over $100.

i'm hoping for an OS--the pen seems chunky enough--but i figure that even as a standard, the set would be well worth the price, given how clean it seems to be, especially the trim.

thoughts?

many thanks for noting that, david--would have missed it, of course. so i have a rather early vac.

can you tell if this is a standard or an OS just from the pics? or any chance it might be a vacuum filler, given the somewhat swirly section?

Though camera distortion can make the call tough, and though the section looks plump, I believe I see just 7 feathers per side on the nib. Also, I have to review some pens to see if OS pens in the USA ever were "feather together".

it did turn out to be a standard, but a very clean one, so i'm not at all disappointed. the feather-together nib will make it a bit special. have a mint vac case waiting for it, too!

what does it say when there's no date code on the vac? this set is almost pristine (absolutely no wear on the plating) so i doubt that any date was scratched off for whatever reason. tia.
