Barclay 1302

I've gotten a bug for Barclay pens in the past few years and just acquired a 1302 that needs a vacumatic-type bladder.
Anyone out there familiar with how these go together and willing to help me get this one working?

If you have ever repaired a Vacumatic these are exactly the same. Use a demi diaphragm for best results. Unscrewing the collar can be a pig - use plenty of heat and patience. Mine has the rarer 14k Ripet nib.

Beautiful pen. Are they difficult to find? I'll have to keep an eye out for these.

Rocco, they aren't common or cheap but they've been coming up on eBay more regularly in the past 2-3 years and they are the nicest pens I've seen in 40 years of collecting.

"Vintage Penman," thanks for the advice. I'm jealous of your Ripet nib. I've already broken the collar on an oversized 1304 and don't want to risk the collar on this one. So I've asked Deb Chaudhuri in Prague ("Jonakimusic" on eBay) if he'd do the restore and he's agreed. The collar looks fragile but if anyone can deal with it, he can--and it will probably come back looking better than new. The best Barclays (and other great Czech pens) I've seen are coming from him and he seems to have good sources of original parts. Even without a Ripet or Ripidium nib I thought this was a nice pen. I've got a smaller Barclay 1304 with the same pattern but still no Ripet. I'll keep looking. Want to sell yours?

Not on your nelly ! I've been hunting one with a Ripet nib for far too long to sell - I'm actually on the lookout for another as soon as funds permit. Ripedium nibs are also very nice, some of them even offer decent flex if you are into that. In the meantime, I might start looking more closely at Centropens as well.
