We've had a couple threads addressing the uncommon 1910's Waterman Oriental overlay pattern.

and

I had picked up a sterling 412 1/2 PSF (mad prior to Waterman's 1917 numbering change) a few years back as part of a pen collection. While I don't aggressively hunt HR Waterman pens, I have managed to put a couple-few dozen into my personal collection in 14 years collecting. The following 0552 1/2 (post numbering change) gold-filled version turned up on ebay. It was so crisp, I could not resist. Not inexpensive, it still struck me as quite reasonable for what it is.

This one pops.

And with the silver pen I had already owned.

Wow! Gorgeous pen, David. Don't know how I missed this one on the Bay - maybe I need to revise my standard searches.

Schrödinger's cat walks into a bar.  And doesn't.

Allan

Hi,

Assuming we discuss same pen, the fellow posted some nice pics and the pen sold for a fair number of hundreds of bucks. This was not a $20 blurry-pic sumgai.

I'm just happy to have it. If I decided to sell the bulk of my Watermans, gold, silver., rubber, plastic... this might be one of the 10-15 I'd keep amongst the few dozen currently hanging out ;)

Dont even get me started on the 10-15 you'd keep. I know that RHR silver overlay Waterman 20 baby would be one of them :)

Regarding this oriental pen, there was one on ebay that sold a few months back for under $200.

I'm not particularly a fan of gold plated pens, but that really is a stunner. The patina is exquisite!

I agree, the patina on this pen is amazing; best to leave as is! Posted Image
