I'm restoring a Vac Junior lockdown (datecode.26.) for one of my neighbors and the pencil is missing the clip and jewel. I think it wants to be a Golden Brown with a feather clip, No "Parker" if it indeed matches the pen. Pencil barrel is 0.376 in the middle and 0.328 up at the clip end, presumably the tassie would be close to that measurement.

Just an idea for the 58, may not be workable, but why not turn down (reduce) the inside diameter of the barrel and insert a sleeve to stabilize the crack and give support to the section. This makes use of the parts you already have and also keeps the look of the pen more matching. (If you find a replacement barrel, it may not be a good match for the cap.)
Thanks for the idea Nick, it was my first idea too. In addition to the crack, the threads on the barrel are worn enough to only catch 1/8 turn or less on the cap. Had a productive back and forth brainstorm with Mr. Zorn about it. At this point we can't call it pristine anyway.

Pencil looks later than the pen. Is there a date code at the right end of the imprint? Likely had a Parker/split feather clip.
Yep, I failed to note that in the original posting it's a "1" (no dots) on the pencil. Presumably 4th quarter of 1941?
The only twist is that the owners name is engraved on both pieces with the same font, to me suggesting that they were purchased at the same time...or engraved at the same time. Of course it's only speculation.
Greg, what kind of cap band is that on the Vac pencil?
About a 5/32" plain gold cap band, no hallmark.
Thanks,

Greg,
I think that's a pretty uncommon pencil. The medium-wide smooth cap bands are seen on mostly Debutante pens, but I haven't seen a pencil yet.
Thanks for your assessment Brian, do we think that the Parker/Split Feather cap is likely correct? And would the jewel more likely be black or matching celluloid?

A 1941 pencil would be correct with a Slit Feather clip that has the word Parker on it. I think it should also have a black jewel by 1941, but I can't recall exactly when they stopped doing striped jewels.

Hi,
The pencil is a somewhat uncommon off-catalogue variant on the Debutante/Sub-Deb theme. I have the four known pen colors and probably all the pencils in my collection. The pencil should take a short split-feather/parker clip .Here are the pens (pencils never have blue-diamond of course).
