Thinking about contributing to THE vintage pen board, I did a quick search on FPB and didn't find much on Osmia (except this nice thread by Vasco on his rare enameled safety pen). I like Osmias and have a few in my collection. I like them for their superb build quality and excellent nibs. Most of all I feel that Osmias in non-black celluloids are easier to find than other comparable brands.

Show your support by posting you own Osmias - enough talk now some pictures!

I'm not lucky as you, the few Osmia I got are black. Nothing nice to show... But congratulations for you nice collection.

Even I started with the black ones and still am looking for a #48 piston filler to come my way.

Thanks for sharing the terrific eye candy.

Might be difficult to gather many images. The pens are great, but I suspect not many of us own examples. I hope to be proven wrong :)

I love Osmia, but rarely find them. I have one very plain black Osmia from after their acquisition. Very plain, but a nice simple pen, would love to find pens like yours.

Like everybody else, it seems, I have a couple of black ones. Very nice writers (steel nibs).

Thank you all.

I do agree that black is the most common but don't let it detract you as there is a high probability of finding a brilliant nib; vintage Osmia nibs....they don't make it like that anymore.

Here is the very first Osmia which got me hooked! Apparently I had made this picture for a 'favorite black pen' thread elsewhere.

Christof, the red marbled 34 is super cute and that 884 is nice too.

For now I will leave these two classy instruments here....

The black, safety, duofold look-alike is gorgeous.
I particurarly like the duofold clones. The few I have found in the wild are in terrible shape, unfortunately.

A couple of images for those who love Osmia and those who will..

You made my day!!Is there any German brand that you do not collect?

I respect the passion and effort that must have gone into building your collection. I should take your advice and start attending those Euro shows.

The right most safety pen must be quite rare! Also do you happen to have any Osmia catalog scans?

markiv,

I am glad you enjoy the Osmia images... It has taken long time to put them together...

I started the collection looking for the Faber Castell as the one with black cap (#38) you showed a few days ago... now I have a few...

I have at least one of each German pen I could find...

The last Osmia I got is the last one to the right you mention, Osmia saftey with a chased surface... In a few days I will post some detail pictures

of it, it is gorgeous really...

To tell you the truth most Osmia I have found in American shows, you just have to look for them more carefully... and of course attending European shows is also great

although not always possible (time & cost) but the last two years I did it as much as I could...

I have not found Osmia catalogs yet... only some of the pen boxes...

Osmia Safety  84K  F

Looks to be in exquisite condition. Does the safety mechanism have a Waterman type axial locking key or a transverse pin?

Thanks again for sharing.
