The accommodation clip is attributable to the Argus Mfg. Co. Chicago Ill. (pat Jan 7 1914)
Has a December 1918 calendar which is when, I was told, the pen was originally purchased. I found more info here.
The shop owner bought it from an estate that included some photos and diary of the original owner. While the shop owner was reading the diary he came along a passage that indicated the purchase of that pen, though we could not find the passage during our quick review.
I would have bought the diary but it was only included in a lot with other items ($350US). The personalization on the barrel doesn't match the diary so who knows how much weight can be put in the story anyway.
