Beautiful Parker "51" Vacumatic Fountain Pen and Pencil set in presentation box. The date imprint on the pen indicates first quarter 1946. The imprint is clear and strong and indicates that the set was made in the USA. The barrel colors are Dove Gray and the pen is a single jewel. The caps are gold filled with parallel lines. Clips are tight and straight with the blue diamond on the pen intact. The jewel on the cap of the pen is scratched or cracked but it is intact and appears to be solid. No dents or dings were noted on the caps.Clutch ring is tight and the two tone coloring is still very evident. The pens are otherwise without significant flaw and only have very minor surface scratching.
I replaced the diaphragm on the pen and thoroughly cleaned it. The nib is 14k gold. The pen fills as it should and the pen writes a nice fine to medium line with even flow. Please see the attached writing sample. The pencil is completely intact, including eraser. Both items operate as they should.
The presentation box has some wear and scratches but the hinge is tight and the box closes firmly and evenly. The box is marked No. 265 Made in USA.
