Latest re-manufacturing endeavor, looking good!

Wasn't satisfied with the seals currently on the market (too soft, prone to pull off, too big and very different in appearance than any original seals). These turned out much better.

David

The mentioned problems with modern seal replacements are similar to my personal experiences.
These seals are looking great. I suspect the black seal at the bottom is the reproduction. The white seal looks original to me.

Just wanted to mention that seals with this shape can be found in eary Pelikan 400, not 100N. These looks different.
Let us know when they are available. I surely will buy a couple! Thanks for this.

Best
Christof

For reference, the picture above shows the replacement seals we formerly sold.

I am certain that they are off-the-shelf seals designed for a completely different purpose, since if they had been designed to fit older Pelikans, they would surely fit much more securely and would look much more like original seals.

The picture below shows the seals we are now selling, which we had custom-manufactured to our specifications.

If you liked the old seals, you'll like the new ones all the better. We had them made in both clear and black -- both of the seals shown in the original post are the new ones!

Thank you, Christof, for your comments.

I should have titled the post something like "100N, 400, 120, and 140 seals" but I can't change it now.

I believe there are about three different seals designs that Pelikan used in the period 1940s-1960s. It would have been very expensive to make all three, so a decision had to be made about which design to use. The early 1950s design seemed to be the most aesthetically compatible across the whole range of pens -- if not exactly the same as the original 100N seal, close enough to be acceptable.

David,

Posts should be editable for a week or more from initial posting time. The initial edit screen does not offer changes to title but once in the edit page if one hits "Use Full Editor", the title should be in play as well.

regards

David (N)

I didn't wanted to critizise, those seals are fantastic!! Both, black ones for Pelikan 100 and 100N and clear ones for Pelikan 120, 140, 300 and 400, N and NN.
I will order immediately a handful!

Christof

I made a picture of all the different vintage Pelikan piston seals I know:

14292173979_dd030d9892_b.jpg

1. Pelikan 100N until ca. 1939/40
2. Pelikan 100 until ca. 1939/40
3. Pelikan 100 and 100N since ca. 1939/40
4. Pelikan 400, only the first years (ca. 1950/51/52...?)
5. Pelikan 120, 140, 300, 400, 500, etc... (also seen on very late Pelikan 100N, ca. 1953/54)

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Christof
