Another score at the LA Pen Show. I've handled/seen perhaps 8-12 over the years, but never managed to score one for my own collection, factoring in price and condition.

Yellow-leaning (was it originally colorless?) Celluloid mid 1930s Sheaffer Balance oversized Demonstrator.

I never liked these primarily do to the disgusting yellowing they have.  I imagine they must have been more attractive when they were first produced.  Fairly uncommon so it is a good find, congrats.

I like having one (see below), but I don't feel like seeking out others. I like demonstrators that are really clear, like the snorkel shown here. I attribute the difference to materials -- celluloid vs. the later injection-molded plastic. Wasn't there a clear Balance demonstrator produced about the same time as the Balance limited edition? Or is my memory playing tricks?

There is a modern Balance-II Demo, yep. Your original Balance Demo looks to be in nice shape.

This is a standard size Balance plunger-filler demonstrator. I have not seen an OS version. Some of the early "Vacuum-fil" may look like OS demonstrators, but they were actually the commonly available retail models. See bottom pic, far left.

This is also a regular production model and not a demonstrator.
