The blind cap is the same celluloid as the barrel - just that with this angle and rotation, you are seeing the dark brown part of the pattern, so it looks like a black blind cap.
Interesting - and thanks. Now, do you know if the nib would have been branded Aurea? The one that I put in the pen is a repaired/reworked Duofold nib.

According to the 1893 patent, it seems that what you call a "double feed" is just an "over/underfeed", similar to the ones used by many other pen companies...

Your Kaolo safety pen was made in the 1940's, not 20's.
During and after the war, such pens were made using aluminium leftovers from the arms industry.
These pens were still produced in the late 40's, mostly for export to Asia and Africa, where "Kaolo" even became a synonym for "pen".

Thanks for this interesting article.
I also collect Czech fountain pens and have some Ocean pens in my collection, not Oceanis as Mr. Landsberger wrongly recalls.
I'll try to contact him about these.
