In Topic: Waterman telescoping pen..Good deal?

I saw this when it came out, but and it was up for a couple hours before I bought it. I took a chance here because I've never bought a pen like this. Was the price was fair?

I picked up a clean example of this pen (or one very similar), within the last four years. I wanted one bad. Everything was there
and correct. Call the condition medium excellent. I believe I paid 250 at a pen show. I expected to pay 400 or more. But: the seller knows his stuff and gives away nothing. Just my experience... Joe

In Topic: Odd Sheaffer pencil

Hi Joe,

I'm more than happy to plead ignorance on this subject, but I have vague recollection of seeing a convertible Wahl set somewhere way back when with pencil not looking like that. I could be sorely mistaken of course. On one hand, it does sort of evoke a mutant Sheaffer golf pencil (the top seeming like a black-ended jade flat-top), but that might be a stretch. There were many no-name shorty pencils made. Wonder if the cap portion will fit a definite Sheaffer golf pencil?

Hi Greg and Dave:

Maybe the pencil is a Wahl-Eversharp uncataloged variant. ;>) I'll do what research I can on the pencil. Hope you have a great find Greg.

Hi Greg:

I might have some info on your pencil. I think I saw this pencil on ebay when you bought it. I inquired to Gary Lehrer if it was a Sheaffer. This might floor you: he told me that the pencil was part of a Wahl-Eversharp convertible fountain pen/pencil. Maybe my memory is failing me on this. Gary would know. If it is what I think it is, please sell it to me at a fair price. -big grin- I've been looking for that pencil ever since Gary nailed down the facts to me.

The first year Blythe's and Papermates appear to be identical to me including the 'push down and to the side' activation button.
