Posted by brando090 on 02 September 2012 - 06:15 PM in Say Hello!

Welcome LPS,

Looks like you are becoming a Sheaffer collector. I guess the question should be asked, what side of the fence are you on Posted Image Vintage or Modern pens? Posted Image

Posted by brando090 on 19 August 2012 - 03:01 AM in OTHER EUROPEAN and ASIAN PENS

Both cool pens, i like the bottom one. Look German, and the top Duofold look-alike looks to be possibly Italian or French by design. They are Belgium pens... And here are some ink bottles to match.

#17509 The value of scarcity

Posted by brando090 on 03 September 2012 - 05:11 PM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

I dont collect ink bottles, but i take it might be a scarce color and/or the packaging was potentially NOS. Also the pen is a ringtop, so that hurts the value a bit.

Very nice David,

I admire the silver Patrician overlay pens, and i hope to acquire one as well.

#15957 Waterman 52 with french overlay...

Posted by brando090 on 07 July 2012 - 06:00 PM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

Just got this pen in, and i learned before receiving this pen that 52 (1/2's) with overlays were overseas overlays, and obviously weren't put on when there were made here in the USA. But my question is, what's up with the two 00's above the number? That makes it very strange, and definitely now the same number size as the comparable 0552 1/2, American made Pansy overlay.

#15984 Waterman 52 with french overlay...

Posted by brando090 on 08 July 2012 - 02:01 AM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

Yes, yes... forgot to mention the Waterman im mentioning is the second pen to the right.

The reason i believe it is/was an exported Waterman is because it says 52 1/2 on the bottom, which i found, with an overlay (which this one has) it would make it an exported Waterman. What ive never seen, was the two oddly shaped 0's (ovals) above the number, which is bigger than usual.

#15525 Diamine Grape

Posted by brando090 on 22 June 2012 - 05:00 AM in Miscellanea: Ink, Paper, Calligraphy, Journals, Storage, Turning, etc

Those guys at the FP Geeks are great! Now that I have done a few of those "video" chats! Right off the bat it became clear to me that both Eric and Dan have something really great going here.Posted Image

Not only is their site informative, but entertaining as well. They bring a certain professionalism and fun to the trade/collecting by being very informative, as well as allowing others to have an opinion, without meaningless and spiteful retribution.

Keep up the great work Eric and Dan!

Its great seeing you on there as well. Its nice having a younger generations (such as myself) also see other younger people interested in this, not just all the attic dwellers that remember these from back than B) Eric and Dan though have a problem, they owe me money for all the pens ive had to buy for the show

Posted by brando090 on 09 July 2012 - 01:48 AM in OTHER EUROPEAN and ASIAN PENS

#16025 Waterman Commando Nib

Posted by brando090 on 09 July 2012 - 04:12 AM in WAHL, WATERMAN and CONKLIN (USA "Big Five")

18k nibs are far less common than there 14k counterparts. As ive looked at some Command's, they all carry different type nibs, so im not sure what version/type nib you have. Anyways, great nib, and worth a few hundred dollars, much more than there standard 14k counterparts.

#16591 Parker 51 Caps

Posted by brando090 on 07 August 2012 - 09:21 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

Correct, ive just been seeing alot of Mexican caps for P51's, vintage, but im not sure if they are original and what their history was.

#16489 Parker 51 Caps

Posted by brando090 on 03 August 2012 - 05:54 AM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

This is really gets interesting, im not a big P51 collector, but i do admire them, and ive had a few come through my hands, and i have a few in my collection. I only collect silver capped P51's, but through the years ive seen some amazing, non-custom work, that is supposedly "Mexican." When i was really starting out with pens, i had a chance to by these P51's which were described to me as being "My (Their) uncle was an officer in the Navy and had it made special for my aunt. I inherited it." I love these Mexican capped P51's, but how did they come to be, and what do these caps signify?
