#39736 Attn: ArtCraft Collectors

Posted by pen-deco on 17 February 2015 - 06:46 PM in Post Your Pen Finds

A recent find this past weekend:

A couple Artcraft desk pens. Although they're badly discolored; the large nibs are in perfect shape. The pens have a unique Deco looking lever and have the Birmingham, Alabama imprints. If I recall, a move to Argentina happened at some point?

The nibs both marked "50 Year," may have been a later marking? I thought it was possible I'd come across an Artcraft nib before, marked "Lifetime."

The company made a quality pen and the nibs are up there with Waterman.

If you're into these Artcraft pens or parts. PM me.

Latest news...

Me-

"$3000? That's pretty steep especially without a photo."

Response:

"Thanks Pat,

What would you be looking to offer? $2,000?"

Me

"Do you have a name? I don't know what to call you but I don't even want to make an offer in fear I'd offend you."

Response:

"My name is John, any offer would be appreciated. And we both live in Michigan, so if your interested, we can meet up whenever is best for the both of us."

#39611 Brandon Cifani (Brando090) is engaged in fraud

Posted by pen-deco on 02 February 2015 - 02:30 PM in Elements of Collecting: Hunting, Valuing and Polemicizing

I thought I’d post in here with a couple concerns. Although I don’t have hard evidence; this guy might be up to his old habits.

On Dec. 20th, I was contacted by a person responding to a generic craigslist ad that I posted about buying fountain pens. I was contacted by phone, and this guy sounded fairly young (18-25). He claimed he’s inherited about 100 fountain pens from his deceased grand-father and wanted to sell or trade. “Do you have any Parker 51 double jewels?” “any Parker 51 double jewels,” “any Parker 51 double jewels,” “I will trade for any Parker 51 double jewels.” He kept repeating over and over again!

I told him to email me with some descriptions and photos of what he had. He wouldn’t give me his name and his email address was greatgatsby090@gmail.com.

I noticed some characteristics of this guy that matched a lot of what’s been said in this thread and I had multiple alarms going off in my head. The pictures looked too good to be true, him remaining nameless, poor grammar, and if we’re getting real picky --- greatsgatsby090 vs. brando090 same numericals... coincidence?

Over the weekend he reached out to me again:

I have a Vac band Vacumatic and a Vacumatic display. $3,000 for the set. No photos available at this time, I have another buyer looking at them in a few hours from now.”

#39501 Parker #20 Lucky Curve in MRHR - Odd Ball

Posted by pen-deco on 26 January 2015 - 02:45 PM in PARKER: (USA "Big Five")

I wanted to share this pen because I'd love to learn more about early Parkers. Is it relevant that this pen isn't an eye dropper, though it has a slip cap?

Here's a Parker #20 Self Filler in mottled red hard rubber. I thought it was pretty unique to see that this pen had a slip cap with a button filler. I am so used to seeing slip caps on EDs. Would you  guys agree that Parker ended the MRHR and Slip-caps around the same time that they introduced Button Fillers?

#39021 Interesting Parker Vac Markings?

Sorry Greg, I should've clarified. I meant the pen came from the Netherlands not necessarily the meaning behind the particular marking.

#38915 Want Trade List and What I can offer

Posted by pen-deco on 19 December 2014 - 03:11 PM in Want Lists and Trade Offers

Hey Brian,

The nib would be for a early Jade senior. Is the nib mono tone? I am not concerned about the condition of the Black and Pearl barrel right now. I have a cap that needs a barrel.

Are you in need of any parts, Brian? I have more than what is listed above.

#38827 Poor Packaging SMASHES Rare 51

I think if every piece would have made it in the package, repair a reconstruction could have been possible.
