I found a Sheaffer Balance at an antique shop, and all it needs, other than a sac, is a new nib. I don't think it would be cost effective to to get it retipped, so I'm hoping to find another nib. Let me know if you've got one you're willing to sell, or trade for some parts. Just let me know.

Thanks,

Will

Rick,

Unfortunately, I am traveling all this week, and I didn't bring the pen with me. I'll take some whenever I get home. Thanks for the help!

Will

Thanks David, I have heard nothing but good things about these gentleman.

The pen itself looks like the pen on the far left of this link: http://fountainpenbo...-red-eye-candy/

I didn't write down the measurements before I left, but off the top of my head it was about 5 and 4 or 5 sixteenths long capped, and about a half an inch in diameter at it's widest point.

Looking for 325 or 3? Probably have both.

Jerry

The nib looked like  the one on this pen: http://www.peytonstr...t-restored.html

In fact, the proportions of the pen look about the same, save for the gold trim.

Your pen has the wide lined cap-band?  That is a nice improvement in cachet.  A long slender pen  with that band eventually took the model name Mercury, a recent discovery.

OK, you need a typical Sheaffer #3 nib, a relatively thin small thing.  Should not clobber you.

OK. Far Left not far Right.  Suspect not quite that pen (wider pen with a different nib), but perhaps the slender version of that, which would work.

I figured that it was the slender version. I am kicking myself for not taking pictures now.

Don't worry on this one too much about pictures. The #3 nib is same size for any Sheaffer meant to hold it.

I have 5 #3 nibs.  Standard flex with a couple being a little more flexible, and one of them is very flexible for a Sheaffers nib.  Your choice $35.  If you don't like it, money back no questions

What do you guys think I should do with the old nib? There is no tipping left whatsoever. I know that I could sell the gold, but it seems a shame to do that.
