This pin issue is also troubling for me now that it seems to be more than an inflammatory, juvenile joke. Its continued pursuit is not particularly gracious nor does it cast you, David, in a particularly good light. It also makes the PCA appear more adult and amenable by not commenting.
The pen community is not huge and the hatchet needs to be buried by both parties once and for all for the common good of this board and the PCA. Making enemies does not bode well in the long term, particularly among those who contribute to this board.
Honestly, I've never spent much time worrying about being in a good light. I'm more interested to see issues play out. Hugh is right that the best jokes are the ones that reveal touchiness. The pin thing was not serious, but- really- when people try to be intimidating in response, I tend to find myself charmed by the notion of pursuing. And, I do have a history of doing things that charm me. It would be more to see the joke through to its somewhat ironic end. We'll see. I'm not yet committed. You'd know if I were. There have been plenty comments all around, and I'm happy to take any shots people wish to offer. The threads aren't shut down (do check out commentary at a Much Bigger Board to see how long comments on touchy issue such as this last). People's comments are not deleted. You all are invited to vent pretty much as you will. What I've not had chance to do, what with a crazy week at work (now ending, leading to a weekend vacation in mountains, then finally home to play here properly) is collate the data and issues on this subject as I see them and present a tidy package. It is overdue.. The PCA had its say via Jon. I'll touch on issues I've seen. The issues will play out. I don't seek to offend, but I don't let fear of offending have influence. People will have the chance to offer all their own views on what is presented.
